episode 94: birthday blues (part one) this is the beginning of a two part episode, enjoy! The lab. "Kaori Night, have you found the next target?" "Yes, Dr. Tomoe," says Kaori, "a perfect one. She has the brightest pure heart we've ever encountered!" "Fine," says the Dr., "I'll give you my finest Daimon pod for this worthy victim." He develops a large pod, which glows a slight green, and hands it to Kaori, who disappears... "It's JUNE 30! You know what that means?" Serena poses in front of the park's fountain. "It's my BIRTHDAY! Isn't that exciting?" The four girls, sitting on the fountain, just sigh and give nonresponsive answers. "That IT? That's ALL?" Raye says, "We're busy working! We can't put studying on hold for your birthday! I expect you at my place later, Serena." The girls leave, Serena in shock... "Maybe a little window shopping will make me feel better," Serena thinks. Walking down the street, she notices something wonderful - "Glass shoes, just like Cinderella's! Oh, I'd love it if my prince would get it for my birthday!"...the two meet down the street. "I've been looking for you, what's up?" wonders Darien. Serena says happily, "I've found the perfect gift for you to give me! Glass shoes like Cinderella's! They're beautiful!" Darien laughs, "But Christmas is months away!" "WHAT? YOu mean you forgot?" "Don't cry..." says Darien, "I'd never forget your special day." Serena stops crying and asks happily, "Then what day is it?" "Umm...it's the anniversary of our first date!" Serena looks stunned at his forgetfullness..."NO! That's not it at ALL, Darien!" and she turns around - and slaps him HARD on the cheek! He holds his cheek gingerly, and everyone gasps around her as she storms off... back on a park bench, Serena cries...and Michelle and Amara see her. "What's wrong?" they wonder, and she tells them. "I never thought Darien would do something like that!" says Michelle. Amara goes over to Serena and laughs, "Now I have a chance at him!" "I thought YOU'D be on my side!" yells Serena, to which Michelle just says that she's kidding. "No, really! He's my height, and we both like to ride motorcycles..." Serena suddenly stands. "Oh, Raye's gonna KILL me for being late! See ya!" She darts off!... "Hi, is Serena there?" Darien calls Raye on the phone. "No, she's not here yet." "See...she's kinda ticked at me." "What'd you do?" Raye wonders..."OH, I know! You just don't get how a woman's heart works!" "WHAT?" "It's her BIRTHDAY!" Darien is relieved, "Oh, that's what it was! But the thing is, she never even told me when it was!"... Serena gets to Raye's, just thinking about how she slapped Darien. "I went too far..." She opens the door to Raye's place...and streamers are set off! "HAPPY BIRTHDAY SERENA!" cry the girls. "Oh, you DID remember!" cries Serena! "I made your favorites, Serena!" says Lita. Amy presents her with questions and answers from previous tests, and Mina says how they can blow off studying now!... meanwhile, at the store with the shoes, Kaori Night, dressed as a saleswoman, puts the daimon egg into the slippers...and Darien walks in. "Hi, I'll take those," he says, pointing to them. "Sure!" Kaori has replaced the real saleswoman of course, and now Darien has the daimon-shoes!...outside, Amara and Michelle notice Kaori! "It's Ka -" "Hush," says Amara, and they hide in an alley. "They must be after Serena!" says Michelle. "Yeah, getting to her through Darien. It's a shame." Michelle says, "I wish it wasn't her...if it is, it will lead to her death..." "YOU SLAPPED HIM?" the girls cry at the party, as Serena told them the story. "Yeah...I feel so bad about it now." "But he was never told your birthday!" shouts Raye. "But he's supposed to know! I KNOW his." "So when is it?" Serena thinks hard. "October 10th! No, that's my mom's...December 25th? No, that's Christmas!....OOPS, I guess I forgot!" The girls all sigh. "Oh god, I'm so sorry! I need to apologize!" She runs out... "It's so bright! This one must have special powers!" cries the daimon...and in the alley are Neptune and Uranus. "It's a different form than the others...it might be what we are searching for!" Uranus goes out to get it, but Neptune pulls her back! "Wait! Do we want to do this? She's a nice girl!" "But we must. This is our mission! Don't you see? We need to get three pure hearts with powers. If this one is, she will die, but it is needed. Some sacrifices are needed." The heart crystal begins to float towards the daimon...when a rose hits it, sending it back, and breaking the glass! Tuxedo Mask has arrived! And the pure heart has floated back into Serena's body! Tuxedo Mask traps the daimon in a shower of rose petals (literally), and now alive and well, Tuxedo Mask comes to Serena. "Try to transform now!" "Well...I can't! The monster knocked away my brooch!"... Kaori Night picks up the brooch. "Could it be...?" She thinks of Sailor Moon posing and giving her speech. "...it is! That girl's gotta be Sailor Moon!" On the roof, Tuxedo Mask and Serena go across, jumping to the next roof. "There they are! Get them!" shouts Kaori, and the daimon goes after them!...though Tuxedo Mask, carrying Serena, is quick, the daimon is even faster! They jump all the roofs and try to lose her in a parking garage...but the daimon, and Kaori, have reached them there! The daimon bounds through the glass door, cornering them! Serena opens her communicator. "LUNA! LUNA, HELP ME!" But the daimon knocks it away, and it breaks... "Oh, we finished the cake, and Serena didn't get any!" says Amy. "First come, first serve," offers Raye, and they finish up the cake, when Amy gets an urgent call on her communicator. "What is it, Luna?" "Serena just called, and she's in danger! We need to find her!" The girls run out... but in the garage, nothing is going right. The daimon turns her glass arm into a sword, and begins to fight Tuxedo Mask! From Serena's angle, we see the tremendous swordsmanship by Mask, and Serena's pained expression. "Run! Run away from here!" cries Tuxedo Mask, but Serena only shakes her head no. She thinks, "I'll never leave him..."...suddenly, the daimon's sword cracks, and Mask runs off to get Serena's brooch...but the daimon shoots a strange substance at him! It covers his whole body, and in a flash, he is covered all around in a layer of glass!... "TUXEDO MASK!" Serena runs now, to get her brooch...but Kaori just throws it to the ground - and begins to grind it with her heel! "You must sacrifice your pure heart, or he dies!" "NOOOOOOO!!!!!" She runs over to her love....and in a corner, are Neptune and Uranus! "Aren't you going to HELP them?" cries Neptune. "No," says Uranus. "We can't! If she's the one we need, she may have to die..." a pained expression fills her eyes... so Kaori and the daimon are just laughing over Serena, now known to the enemy as Sailor Moon, who's huddling over the glass, Tuxedo Mask helpless! And Uranus and Neptune won't do a thing! How can they get out of this alive??!?... end of part one: to be continued...
