episode 88: blinded by love's light In the lab, Tomoe injects a substance into a daimon egg when Kaori comes in. "I need to get the pure hearts of lovers. For this I'll need another daimon egg." Tomoe responds, "Another one? For your sake, you've better get the three pure heart crystals. You've been wasting too many eggs. And you must destroy those meddlesome Sailor Scouts!"... Serena wanders downtown. "Melvin told me to meet him in this alley...here!" She walks in. "HSSSH!" shushes Melvin. "What's up Melvin?" Melvin looks sheepish. "Well...umm...I think Molly's trying to hide somthing from me! Oh, I bet she's got another boyfriend or something! Oh no, it's my fault, why'd I give her fried shrimp everyday? And she said she liked it!" he sobs. Serena smiles. "Don't worry, I'll ask Molly DISCRETLY what's going on!"... at the fountain, Molly sits with Serena. "What's wrong?" asks Serena. "Well...ummm...I think Melvin's hiding something! Maybe he has a new girlfriend or something..." Serena laughs, "Well, I wouldn't worry, it's not like Melvin's a hunk or something!" But Molly suddenly gets up in a huff! "I don't want you dissing him! I don't need your help!" And she suddenly leaves!..."Who can I get help from?" wonders Serena. "Oh I know! Raye's the romance expert!..." "...so that's all. What should I do?" Raye says to her, "Don't worry, there's no real problem here. They seem to really like each other, they just don't know it. So here -" she pulls out an ad. "Heart World! There's an Affection Contest for lovers to open the park! They should go." "Can me and Darien enter?" wonders Serena. "NO! THAT WOULD DEFEAT THE WHOLE PURpoSE OF THIS!" "Are you sure?" *sweat drop* "You'd better hurry," says Raye, "'cause space is limited!"... meanwhile, the daimon egg settles in the heart statue in Heart World. "WHERE'S THE FIRE?" Molly pants, as well as Melvin, as they run up stairs somewhere in the city. "SERENA!" Serena says, "Right up here!" But the gate is closed to Heart World. *sweat drop* "Oh guys! I'm so sorry! I blew it," sighs Serena. But Molly and Melvin look sheepishly at their feet! "Umm...actually...I got tickets already," stammers Melvin. "Me too! Why didn't you tell me?" asks Molly. "Well, I thought you'd say no way!" "No, of course I'd go!"...the profile of Amara is seen. "I feel something evil here." "Yes. We need to find out exactly what's happening in order to get the heart snatchers."... "must get sleep can't be nervous" Melvin stammers, trying to get to bed. "BAH 1 sheep BAH 2 sheep must get to sleep BAH 3 sheep..."...it is now morning. "BAH 32,054 sheep BAH 32,055 sheep I MUST GET SOME SLEEP! Molly's counting on me!" Melvin gets up, a nervous wreck... "WEElcome to the Affection Contest at Heart World!" cries a funy looking announcer (with a bow tie!). Serena meets up with the other girls. "We're here to cheer Melvin and Molly on!" But who do we see standing there, looking cool as ever, but Amara and Michelle? "They can't enter, they're both girls! And they're cousins! They must be in as a joke!" Amy blushes. All the couples are lined up on the stage to the delight of the large audience. "Go Molly!" cries Amy. "Yeah Melvin!" screams Mina. "Michelle, you look SO PRETTY!" Raye suddenly shouts, and Lita adds, "AMARA, YOU'RE NUMBER ONE!" They're scolded by Serena and proceed to watch... "the first contest is this: all the girls' hands will be sticking out, but the girls unseen. Their friends must find them only by recognizing their hand! Now, our first contestant!" Amara gets up and immediately goes to a girl's hand. "Say her name," asks the announcer. "That's personal, don't you think?" Amara replies, and the annoucner begs, "We're on a script here!" Amara sighs and shouts, "Michelle!" and MIchelle does indeed step out. "We have a winner!" cries the annoucner! Melvin's turn is up. He thinks to himself, I remember her having a band-aid, so he goes to a bandaged hand..."MOLLY!" "I'm not her, dweeb!" the misnomered girl shouts, and punches Melvin out! "He's not doing so well," Mina remarks... The contests go on, with the three-legged-person and the kareoke contest, and Amara and Michelle of course win them all! Backstage, Amara laughs, "They're all taking it so seriously!" but Michelle counters, "To them, this really is serious. We shouldn't take this lightly."...Finally - "this is the best contest, where the lovers explain their loves to each other! And you, the audience, gets to decide! First, this lovely couple!" he points at Amara and Michelle. But Amara declines. "We entered as a joke, but it turns out that we might win." Suddenly gaining confidence, eyes wide, she yells, "We quit, for REAL LOVE!" "Good luck," Michelle stammers...other couples come up, one with a fat girl and skinny guy, one with a karate-guy whose hit by a mallet from his girlfriend! "Melvin?"... "..ummm...I'm not so good at this," he stammers, tripping over the stage's wire. "But Molly, you being there lights up my life! You blind me with your presence!" He goes on about how much he truly loves her, and the whole audience, including Molly and the annoucner, are moved to tears..."it's your vote! Your applause determines it!" the announcer calls. And the sound has it - Molly and Melvin have won the contest!... but all of a sudden, out of the huge heart statue, appears a very strange daimon, with the black star mark on its cheek and a huge heart covering it's chest! All the people run away, except the girls of course, and the daimon cries, "DAIHEART!" The black ray comes from the star mark, and courageously, Melvin throws Molly out of the way! Melvin's pure heart begins to come out!.... "MOON COSMIC POWER!" "MERCURY STAR POWER!" "MARS STAR POWER!" "JUPITER STAR POWER!" "VENUS STAR POWER!" Now transformed, the Sailor Soldiers make a LONG team speech. But Daiheart isn't phased at all. "Wanna dance?" she asks, reaching into her big heart...suddenly, five very handsome guys stand with the Soldiers? "Would you like to dance?" "Umm...yes!" stammers Mercury. All five girls dance... but the dancers suddenly turn into daimon and wrap themselves around the girls, electrocuting them! With this chance, Daiheart reaches for the hear crystal... "NOT SO FAST!" Uranus and Neptune have arrived! "Here's you dance!" cries the daimon, but Uranus just laughs and says, "Thanks, but we dance alone! URANUS WORLD SHAKING!" all the other daimon are vanquished! Now freed, the inner Soldiers all run towards the pure heart - but Daiheart gets in the way! "Moon Spiral HEART ATTACK!" cries Moon, and the daimon is destroyed!... but Kaori Night fights with Uranus and Neptune. "We can take you on," laughs Uranus. Kaori just snaps her fingers, and lightning strikes the ground, intimidating the girls. "It's not good to underestimate your enemy," says Kaori, and she's gone in a flash...Uranus and Neptune examine the crystal. "Who are you?" wonders Molly, but Uranus just says, "This isn't it." She gives it back to Melvin. "Take care," says Neptune, and the two are gone... the girls, pretty much the only ones left, stand and watch as Molly and Melvin pull down the lever to light up the heart statue. The two smile as the radiant pink light surrounds them...a happy ending! but how much in trouble is Kaori now? What more evil can come in all the girls' paths?
