episode 120: tough kindness A BEAUTIFUL night in Tokyo. Serena and Darien stand on the balcony, gazing at the stars. "Isn't it peaceful?" Serena says, smiling. "Yes, I love a peaceful night," Darien agrees. Serena begins to blush, and says weakly, "Darien, aren't you cold? I'm so chilly! Darien, please...keep me warm..." Blushing more, she moves in for a kiss...but Darien goes inside! "What are you DOING?" she screams. "Well, you said you were cold, so I thought you'd want hot chocolate or something!" She just sighs. "Darien, you're so clueless!"...Rini sighs in her room, when a pink light overtakes her! Above her head, a puff of pink smoke - and a pink letter falls into her hands. "It's from Mommy and Daddy!" She begins to read the letter, which says that she's grown and should come back to the future now. Rini, realizing that she should go back, begins to cry...when Serena bolts in the room! "What's in your hand, a love letter?" But Serena is shocked when she realizes what the letter is truly about. "This is...?" At the shrine, the girls are all surprised when they hear about the letter. "It's from Rini's mother...so I guess I wrote it!" Mina counters, "That means it's all messy with mistakes, right?" *sweat drop* They all go to read the letter..."But I don't have to leave yet!" shouts Rini, "I can go anytime!" Rini runs off happily, concealing her tears. "We need to do something for her, any ideas?" wonders Mina. Serena, shockingly, says, "Let's have a farewell party!" "Wow, your brain's working today!" says Mina incredulously. "Where should we have it?" wonders Amy. Luna suggests Darien's place...at night, on the swings, Serena tells Rini all about the party. But Rini just looks down and begins to tear. "You don't understand me at all! You WANT me to elave, don't you?" In a rage, she runs off, crying. "Guess she didn't take it over so well, did she..." Luna trails off... in her room, Serena searches for a gift. "You spent all your money, didn't you?" Luna teases. Serena says, "This present should be meaningful and...from the heart. It can't be some store bought thing, it should have some memories attached." She pulls out a little red dress. "I used to wear this when I was little! Perfect!"...meanwhile, Darien goes up the elevator to his apartment, but someone is curled up at his door. "Rini? What are you doing here?" No response. "Come in and make yourself at home, I'll make hot chocolate." Inside, over the hot chocolate, Rini suddenly asks, "Do you all want me back?" Darien is taken aghast. "Of COURSE we do! We all love you so much!" Rini pauses for a minute. Almost crying, she stammers out, "Do...do YOU want me back?" "Absolutely! I love you so much!" Knocking over her tea cup, Rini runs into Darien's arms. The shocked man can only hold his daughter and stare at the liquid falling out of the cup...that night (again), Serena sews something while Rini sleeps. "OW!" she pricks her finger! "What are you doing?" "Oh, nothing, go back to sleep, NOW." Rini ducks her head under the covers. 'She doesn't understand...' a rainstorm begins in Tokyo. Pounding lightning strikes the ground...the crater that was once Mugen. The wreck is lit up. We see the daimon-making machine, and a pile of broken daimon eggs. A crack of lightning, and all the eggs are wiped away...except for one...which is UNBROKEN! The red, humanoid figure comes out, and begins to crawl towards the machine, as the lightning cracks overhead... The cracking of the streamers at Rini's party! Rini looks sad, but the others are all smiles. "Don't worry," Serena tries, "the future isn't as far away as you think, and you can see us anytime!" "Right." But Raye shouts at her, "You don't know anything, SERENA!" The two begin to argue, but then Raye interuptts (again), "Hey! I'll start of the show by singing!" The others clap, except Rini of course...meanwhile, the last daimon has made it into the machine. It comes out, the machine around it's waist. "Pure...hearts..." "Time for presents!" Lita starts off first. "Here, I baked your favorite cookies, ok? Just don't get them crushed on the way back home." "Thank you," Rini mutters. Amy's next. "I made this computer program for you!" Mina mutters, "Is all you think of computers and school?" "Well, I think it's important to excercise your mind! Besides, there's a fun game on there!" Rini sighs and takes it. Raye's up now. "I made this tape of all my songs. The last one, I wrote especially for you!" Finally, Mina. "Here, look, a photo album of us, full of memories!" We see pictures of all the good times. "Thank you." Darien, thoughtful as always, pulls out a single, blooming, gleaming rose, and hands it to her. And Serena pulls out a CUTE bunny bag! "I made it for you! I know it's not so well made, but here!" Raye smiles, "That's such a cute puppy!" "It's a BUNNY!" The two begin to argue again, but Raye stops. "I like it anyway, and it was thoughtful." Seeing that Serena's fingers are cut up, she hands Serena a bandage. Rini stops for a minute. "Raye and Serena always fight, and they're great friends! I wish I had a friend like that..." she trails off... the familiar docks, where Rini appeared that long time ago. "I want to say goodbye now. It'll be easier...I'll miss you all so much!" Mina, Lita, Raye, Amy, and Darien give their final goodbyes...but Serena can only try to choke down her tears. "Serena...goodbye!" Rini runs off. "RINI, WAIT!!!" Serena, crying, runs after her! The others try to follow, but Darien stops them, saying that they need time alone..."Chronos, Guardian of Time, please guide me through the path of light to the future!" The pink light begins to form, the gate begins to open. "Please, allow me to travel to my home!" The light becomes brighter when Serena gets there. "I'm sorry...I wanted to say goodbye without tears..." she wipes her eyes. Rini begins to float up towards the light. "I don't want to go!" But Serena closes her eyes. "You'll be happy in the future. Don't worry." The two hold hands for the last time, and Rini is carried away... Luna runs up to Serena. "There's trouble! The very last daimon pod has been born, and it's stealing pure hearts!" We see images of peoples' hearts being stolen. The Sailor Scouts and Tuxedo Mask, running like mad for the final encounter, see many sparkling pure hearts floating above the former Mugen School. Arriving, they see more pure hearts, all trapped in a huge flash made by the daimon! Moon and the others give their speeches, their last hurrahs. "MARS CELESITAL FIRE SURROUND!" The daimon is swift, and misses the hit. "SPARKLING WIDE PRESSURE!" The daimon misses this too, and sends another attack flying right at her! It dissolves some of Jupiter's hair, and she is down. "SHINE AQUA ILLUSION!" The daimon just does through the waters. "VENUS LOVE CHAIN WHIP!" But it misses as well! The daimon comes on top of Sailor Moon. "A nice pure heart..." Moon, feeling powerless, only thinks, "If only I had the purity chalice!"...meanwhile, through the fog of time, a picture of Rini's home is seen. "Crystal Tokyo!" But all Rini sees is Serena's sad face... the Scouts are down, and unable to defend themselves. Suddenly, the familiar cry is heard - "PINK SUGAR HEART ATTACK!" The stick has fallen out of Mini Moon's hand, but hits the daimon from the ground. She of course, gives a speech as well! The daimon throws the Stick back at her. "Sailor Moon! A truly pure heart is what you need! Destroy this creature!" shouts Tuxedo Mask. Moon gets up and starts her attack, thinking, 'I don't need the Chalice! I only need a pure, caring heart for my friends!' "MOON SPIRAL HEART ATTACK!" The last daimon, the battle with the heart snatchers, the sacrifice, it all ends with the daimon's demise!... "Yeah, Sailor Moon!" everyone runs up to her. Moon finally notices Mini Moon! "Why are you here?" Suddenly, Luna P reappears, a letter in it's mouth. Moon reads, "'My sweetie, I'm glad you were able to see me. I hope you grow stronger in the past. P.S. come back any time with gifts!" Venus laughs, "That's Serena for you!" And they all give Mini Moon a huge hug back. Mini Moon comes up to the 'screen', facing the viewers. A heart forms around her. "Well, that's that! I'm back to stay!" A giggle, and the screen goes black. Finally, the threat is over. Finally, the heart snatchers are dead. Finally, the world is in peace. A pure heart is truly all you need to survive.
