- new sailor moon? -
01.12.00. Well, HERE'S an interesting piece of news! Apparently, FanboyInc believes that a NEW or REVISED Sailormoon series by Naoko Takeuchi could be coming out in the near future! According the the article, which can be read HERE, industry leaders in Japan are saying that Takeuchi is currently in the process of writing a new manga. The characters will be changed somewhat, but no one's sure if there will be more soldiers, a different plotline, or what. Either way, this could be a VERY interesting development. The rumors may be true after all! Stay tuned for more info!

12.3.00. Akadot.com has recently posted an article tracing the history of shoujo in America, featuring Sailor Moon as it's prime topic. It shows how the introduction of Sailor Moon into the American mainstream is really what began the shoujo...and the ANIME...boom in America. It's a great read! Also, the latest issue of Animerica features a short but informative article about Sailor Moon, tracing it's history and popularity in the US. - ADV Acquires DiC's "Sailor Moon" - the press release
Here is the official press release about ADV's getting Sailor Moon!

"ADV FILMS AND DIC ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF SAILOR MOON

ADV Films is proud to announce their recent acquisition of the home video rights to the first 82 episodes of Sailor Moon, the #1 television series for girls on the Cartoon Network's "Toonami" programming block, from DIC Entertainment.
Sailor Moon is the story of Serena, a junior high school student who discovers that she has mystical powers and is destined to protect the world from the evil Queen Beryl and the fiends of the Negaverse. Gradually, Serena assembles a team of Sailor Scouts to help her battle the forces of darkness in the name of Queen Serenity of the Emperium. Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Venus and Sailor Jupiter round out the rest of Sailor Moon's team. Sailor Moon is given her powers by Luna, a trusted advisor of Queen Serenity, who takes the form of Serena's cat and sticks with her through thick and thin.
The Sailor Scouts must take on the dwellers of the Negaverse, while also dealing with the problems of adolescence. Bad grades and crushes at Crossroads Junior High can be just as fearsome as the forces of evil. All the while, Serena moves slowly toward her destiny, to save the universe as Neo-Queen Serenity in the name of the Moon. It's not easy being a pretty soldier.
An anime sensation that has appeared in the "Lycos Top 50" consecutively for the past 41 weeks, Sailor Moon is a proven multi-billion dollar brand in specialty and mass channels, with products ranging from toys and games to clothing and school supplies. Sailor Moon appears Monday through Friday at 4:30 p.m. on the Cartoon Network during the "Toonami" block of programming, and is seen by over 1.1 million viewers a day. Cartoon Network also airs Sailor Moon on Saturday mornings at 11:00 a.m.
Next month, ADV Films will begin releasing the 82 original episodes of the fabulous Sailor Moon television series. The first 2 VHS cassettes, which include 4 episodes each, will be released on November 21st and will contain the English-dubbed, family/children friendly version of the show, as seen on television. Each tape will introduce episodes never before seen on home video and will carry the suggested retail price of $12.98 each. Other VHS volumes will follow shortly thereafter..."

I can't wait!!

- Pioneer Acquires the Rights to "Sailor Moon Super" and "Sailor Moon SuperS", subbed and dubbed
Pioneer, who previously dubbed and subtitled the three Sailor Moon movies, will be releasing Sailor Moon Super on tape and DVD starting early February 2001. The DVD will have 6 episodes, dubbed and subtitled, and the remaining volumes will have 4 episodes each. The VHS, as of now, will have 3 episodes a volume, dubbed. Word on a subtitled VHS has not been disclosed yet. SuperS will reportedly be released depending on the success of the sales of Super.

- New Sailormoon Calander Released in Japan!
For the first time since "Sailor Stars" ended, back in 1997, Toei has released a Sailormoon calander. This 2001 calander features collaged images of all the senshi (Scouts, to North America), each month (seemingly) focusing on a particular season or group of senshi (the inners, mostly). It can be bought at AnimeNation, among other places. Scanned images of it can be seen at SOS.
