Welcome to the sailor moon newswire! Here, you'll find all the latest information dealing with the release of the "Sailor Moon" series in the U.S. and Canada! Any other pertinent SM news will be posted, too. =) archived news more archived news (more recent) + Pegasus Collection Dates AND the official SM site! + 12.08.01. First things first: the release dates for the first two sets of Pioneer releases of SuperS have been announced (for DVD anyway). The series, which will be entitled "The Pegasus Collection" (as Super was called "The Heart Collection"), already has release dates for the first two DVDs. They are: The Pegasus Collection I: January 29, 2002 The Pegasus Collection II: March 19, 2002 I assume that the first two tapes will be released on 01/29, the second two on 03/19, but this hasn't been confirmed yet. In other news, Bandai has reopened the official Japanese Sailormoon site. The site features information on the anime, the manga, and the live-action stage shows (SeraMyu). Not only is there information, but also tips on buying SM products, latest news, and even a new (cute!) picture by the creator herself, Naoko Takeuchi, of Sailormoon in a SeraMyu costume! Here's the URL (site's in JP, so click on random links to your heart's content ^_^): http://sailormoon.channel.or.jp + SMR, S, SS Movies on CN! + 10.09.01. A bit outdated but still good news...Cartoon Network plans on showing the three dubbed Sailor Moon movies, "Promise of the Rose", "Hearts in Ice", and "Black Dream Hole", on November 2, 9, and 16, respectively. At 5:00 PM (I believe) on these Fridays on Toonami, the SM movies will be shown, dubbed by Pioneer. This is the first time any SM has been shown on SM since it was taken off a few months ago. Watch for it! + SMS DVD, VHS covers, titles out+ 09.27.01. Pioneer has finally released the covers to the newest releases of SMS, "Hotaru's Secret", "The Mysterious Sailor" (orig. titled "Sailor Saturn!"), and "The Heart Collection V", both the cut AND uncut covers. The rundown: Hotaru's Secret (cut) background is gold-colored, with smiling and posing Sailor Mini Moon and Super Sailor Moon. The Mysterious Sailor (cut) starry BG with faded out Uranus and Neptune holding treaures, focus on glowing Sailor Pluto holding her Time Staff. Hotaru's Secret (uncut) orange/red BG melding into picture of Tuxedo Kamen holding onto Chibimoon. Edited from the original JP LD SMS 7 cover. The Mysterious Sailor (uncut) blue starry BG melding into pic of smiling Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus. Edited from the original JP LD SMS 8 cover. The Heart Collection V (hybrid) same as the previous cover (Neptune, Uranus, Pluto). These titles are all due for release on October 9th, watch out for them! More news: The titles for the next Pioneer SMS releases have been released: the next two tapes are "Small Hearts" and "The Awakening", the DVD is "The Heart Collection VI". All these releases are due November 27th. + SM to show on WB's Toonami? + 08.24.01. According to the WB11 schedule, seen HERE (WB11 is the New York Metropolitan Area WB station), episodes of Sailor Moon will be shown on the WB's version of "Toonami", at 3:00 EST. It seems that the episodes, while shown chronologically (starting with S), will not all be shown. The first listed episode is for Tuesday, Septermber 4, and is "Damp Spirits" (10 episodes or so into the S season). the WB's Toonami currently shows Pokemon and Batman Beyond. Perhaps the WB is trying to attract a female audience to a largely male-dominated block. The WB has a history of catering its programming towards the male demographic, the most notable example being the tremendous changing of "Card Captor Sakura" into "Cardcaptors". Hopefully, it'll be a success. + VHS is in early! + 08.11.01. While the DVD has not been shipped yet (the cover art has not yet been released), the UNCUT VHS releases of the next SMS volumes (7 and 8), "The Secret Revealed!" and "The Search for the Savior", have apparently been released into stores. Interestingly, I could only find the uncut DUBS, not the subs...stores that have the titles in early include Saturday Matinee, Suncoast, and FYE (formerly Record Town). The DVD and the subtitled releases are still due to come out on the 14th. + New VHS covers and titles! + 08.03.01. Pioneer has finally released the covers for the latest VHS volumes of SMS, due August 14th. The first, entitled "The Secret Revealed!", features a beautiful Sailor Pluto holding up a heart crystal (edited from an SMS Nakayoshi Anime Album). The second, "The Search For the Savior", has a gorgeous pic of Super Sailor Moon turning her head to the side (originally from Japanese LD cover 6). These are for the UNCUT versions, the cut versions' art haven't been released yet. here are the covers: volume 7... and volume 8. Also, the next two titles for the next volumes of SMS, due October 9, have been released: volume 9 is "Hotaru's Secret", volume 10 is "Sailor Saturn." Can't wait!! + Sailor Moon fanart contest! + 06.03.01. Tokyopop has announced a fanart contest in honor of the final volume of their "Chix Comix" manga, #35 in September. The contest has been extended to June 15. Better yet, this site is an official linker/sponsor of the Fanart Contest (as you can see from the index page)! Everyone, get out your colored pencils, you'll have a chance to get your own work featured in the last issue ever of the Sailor Moon English manga! HERE we go! + DVD III and VHS cover art! + With only two weeks left to go before the release of SMS DVD III and VHS tapes "Back From the Future" and "Secret Destiny", Pioneer has finally opted to release the cover art for the uncut sub/dub/hybrid releases. Two new pictures have been released: the first features Sailor Chibi (Mini) Moon holding her hands to her chin and smiling against a pink background, an edit from the original Japanese LD 4 cover. The next picture is where the real news is: this features Sailors Uranus and Neptune in an embracee, looking as if they are going to kiss. As you may know, U&N were lovers in the original Japanese show, not cousins like in North America. This picture, known as THE picture to some, was controversial for obvious reasons (kissing cousins!?!?), but I'm sure glad they kept this original Japanese LD 5 (though with different colors) picture. Check them out! the DVD front cover (U&N will be on the back) "Back From the Future" cover (chibimoon!) "Secret Destiny" cover (see the controversy?) back home! |
