Chapter X: End of the Darkness

Queen Serenity and her daughter watched the Sailor Scouts defeat Beryl from high above...

At this point, Tuxedo Mask had been captured by Beryl (after another battle), and was brainwashed to hate and fight the Scouts, who had decided to go to the Negaverse’s base on Earth and destroy them once and for all. Clasping hands, each recited their respective transformation saying and then, in unison, shouted "SAILOR SCOUT TELEPORT!" They were immediately taken in a ball of energy to the frigid North Pole, the site of Queen Beryl and her minions.

Mercury pulled down her special computer visor, looked at its readings, and decided, "We should go that way." and they started to run towards the spot, in anxiety and fear (not only of Beryl but also of hypothermia). The path seemed to be clear, when suddenly, one of the droids stood in their way. It shot an energy beam at Sailor Moon, but Venus stood in its way, protecting her.

"Sailor Moon, it is our duty to protect you. I will do whatever I can," she said, weakened by the blast. "Leave without me. I’ll take care of this monster."

Sailor Moon was shocked. "No, we can’t leave you!"

But Venus was determined. "You must!"

And as they left, the Scouts could hear the sounds of fighting, and pain on Venus’ part. All of a sudden, the sound of a loud scream pierced the air, and at once they knew that the girl they had loved, Mina, was no more.

"Mina..." Sailor Moon wailed. She had lost practically all her resolve, and only the thought of seeing Tuxedo Mask again made her go forward. But another droid stood in their way. Once again, it tried to kill Sailor Moon, and this time Mercury stood in her way.

"I can defeat this monster! Go without me," she said, determined. "I can do this."

However, after they left the site, Amy’s scream could be heard for miles, letting all know that she was gone, was dead...

"Amy, NO!!!" Sailor Moon sobbed.

Mother, they can’t die. They just CAN’T!

+++ I know, child, I know. But while their bodies are dead, their spirits are still alive. But if Sailor Moon does not continue on, they just might fade away...

Continuing on, only Moon, Jupiter, and Mars left, a vicious monster came in their path. Trying to strike Sailor Moon, Jupiter ran in her way, taking the blast. As the pain coursed through her body, she said, struggling, "This is my battle, and I will defeat it alone. Go on."

But yet again, the sullen scream could be heard, and now Lita was no more. Only Sailor Moon and Sailor Mars were left.

"Mars, I can’t go on," sobbed Moon. "This is all too much for me."

Mars snapped at her, "But you must, for all our sakes! We sacrificed for you, the least you can do is to continue. Come on Serena!"

Moon stopped crying. "You’re right. I must go on --" but then a monster appeared, cutting her off.
"Sailor Moon, you know what? I believe that you are destined to fight Queen Beryl on your own. I can just feel it, somehow. And so I must take up this battle. It is only right. Go on!"

"No, Mars, you CAN’T!"

But she did. Sailor Moon watched the death of her friend Raye, and now she was the last Scout remaining.

"I must do this," she said to herself. "For Raye’s sake, and for all my friends. Their deaths will be avenged!"

Thank God she is moving on. I was scared for a minute that she would weep and stop fighting! +++ Yes, it is a good thing, Onyx. She must continue on. It is essential to Earth’s future...

Suddenly, a hole opened up in the snow, and she fell down, down until she hit the floor with a loud thump.

"Where am I? Who did this?"

A figure appeared. "Oh, you mean me?" said a man’s voice.

Out of the shadows, she could make the outline of a man...who looked like her love... "Tuxedo Mask, is that you?"

"No, not really." He leapt to her side, wearing not the tuxedo but a different, princely attire. "I am Prince Darien, sworn to protect Queen Beryl. I have been sent to destroy you." In the background, she could hear laughing...Queen Beryl’s laughing.

What is going on? Why is Serena so surprised?

+++ Well, memories are flooding back to her now, memories of a better time, when her and Prince Darien were happy together.

But how will he know?

+++ Just watch, Onyx...

"Tuxedo...Prince Darien, listen to me. It is not meant to be this way." She held out her transformation locket to him, and for some odd reason, he grabbed for it. He suddenly screamed...

Mother, what is happening?

+++ He is regaining memories of when he was engaged to Princess Serena. You see, he was a Prince from Earth, who was the princess’ fiancee, but when the Negaverse came, I sent his spirit to Earth, like I did to you. I remember, they were so happy...

Serena spoke first. "Do you remember now?"

"Yes, yes, I do...Serena." said the Prince.

"Oh, Darien," she cried, and in a flourish of light, she transformed once again...into Princess Serena!

It is still so shocking to believe that Serena is my sister!

+++ Yes. I realize this...but the time was not right to tell you, not until recently.

Wow.

The happy moment was broken up by a ravaged Queen Beryl. "So, you think that you can make up and live happily ever after, Princess Serena? This will not be PERMITTED! Help me, NegaForce! Allow me to beat this Sailor brat! Aid me NOW!"

And the NeagForce did. A greater evil possessed Queen Beryl and now she was overtaken by the NegaForce, and the size of her body as well as her power increased tenfold.

Princess Serena was not scared. Holding all seven rainbow crystals in her hands, they suddenly, in a flash of light, merged -- into the legendary Silver Crystal that her mother, Queen Serenity, once possessed! She knew what she must do..."I will defeat you. In the name of the moon, you will be vanquished...MOON COSMIC POWER!" a bubble of white light, flowing from the crystal, formed around her, protecting her and trying to enclose, to kill, the Queen.

"NOOO!!" and with a yell, the Queen sent a hugely powerful force of energy towards the princess, which closed in around her. Serena was weakened and began to lose the battle...

No, she can’t lose! She CAN’T!

+++ She won’t, daughter. Just wait. The Scouts’ spirits are on Serena’s side...

Serena panted. "I...won’t...give...IN!" But the battle seemed hopeless. Her protection was almost worn out. Then suddenly, Serena heard voices from around her...

"Venus Power!"

"Jupiter Power!"

"Mars Power!"

"Mercury Power!"

Raye laughed and said, "You didn’t think we’d leave you, did you? We’re here."

Princess Serena cried, "You came! I don’t believe it! And now, I will finish this fight...Moon Prism POWER!!!"

With that, a tremendous force of light was sent towards the powerful Queen, enclosing her, destroying her. The Negaverse was finished.

Yeah! She did it!

+++ But it is not over yet.

The spirits crowded around Serena, who had used up her power. She and Darien held hands, and then both faded out of existence, along with the spirits...

NO!!!!

+++ Onyx, it is now my time to interfere.

Coming down from the heavens was Queen Serenity. Gathering the broken spirits, with a powerful flash, she flung them down to Earth, where they could be reborn anew...

The war is over. It is finished!

+++ Yes, it is. For now.

> The Queen and Princess Onyx held hands, knowing that this battle had been won. Whether the Sailor Scouts would need to fight again, no one knew. But Onyx did not want to just sit around, waiting for her friends’ arrival.

Mother, I want to go back.

+++ What?

I want to go back to Earth! I need to be with them...with my sister. Please, I beg you. I do not need any powers, nor any memory of my true self. Just let me go back.

+++ If that is what you want, it shall be done. But you will not have a memory of me, or Serena!

I do not care. As long as I can be there! Oh, thank you for your help. I love you...

And with that, the spirit of the princess was also flung down to Earth, to be born anew on Earth. She could live again...on Earth...around the family that she loved.
