Chapter IX: Encounter With the Beast

The warriors all stood together, drawing strength from within, ready to face any challenge. However, this would come sooner than planned, as a hole of darkness opened from above...

From it, a Negaverse general appeared, along with hundreds upon hundreds of soldiers, all probably trained expertly by Queen Beryl.

The Scouts appeared to be extremely upset. "Zoicite? What is this?" Zoicite! I know nothing of this general. She must be a new one...Thanks, oh Queen Beryl, for keeping me informed!

Zoicite started to laugh at how outnumbered the Scouts were. "Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Venus, Tuxedo Mask...that’s all who try to stop me? Hah!" Glancing around, she finally spotted Onyx. "And who is this?"

"I am Sailor Nemesis, enemy of all my oppressors, powerful and strong. And don’t you forget it!"

"Sailor Nemesis, huh?" said the general. Realizing the truth, she gasped. "You’re that Negaverse renegade, aren’t you? You are a coward, Black Daughter, succumbing to these goody-two-shoes Sailor Brats! Come, join us again."

Onyx pondered this, looking around at the Scouts, her new family, and looked towards the general. "Zoicite. You’ve gotta be OUT OF YOUR MIND!!! I’ve finally chosen the light path, and you think I’ll come back to you sleaze? You got to be crazy!"

Zoicite grumbled. "Oh well, fine. Your loss. I guess now I’ll have to kill you." Turning towards her soldiers, she shouted, "Negaverse fleet! Attack!!!"

They came in huge groups, swarming the Scouts by sheer numbers. However, they were undaunted, trying to hold them off...

"VENUS CRESCENT BEAM SMASH!"

"JUPITER THUNDER CRASH!"

"MARS FIRE IGNITE!"

"MERCURY BUBBLES BLAST!"

and of course, Sailor Moon rid many soldiers with her powerful "MOON TIARA MAGIC!"

Sailor Nemesis chipped in, using her "NEMESIS DARK BEAM SURROUND!" to thwart her enemies. Tuxedo Mask also tried to help, using his weaker yet resourceful powers.

However, as the battle went on, the Scouts and Tuxedo Mask were gradually losing energy, as they had been using it up with their powers. There were so many soldiers, and although the warriors’ powers were exceptionally strong, they all began to weaken...

Zoicite appeared within the battlescene. "You’re so powerful, or so you claim, and yet you can’t defeat a bunch of foot soldiers? Pathetic! Now, I’ll just take these silly little rainbow crystals you’ve been vying for..."

Nemesis was enraged. "NOOO!!!" Drawing strength from her anger, she shouted, "NEMESIS DARK BEAM SURROUND!" and the general was halted.

"How dare you, you little traitor! Soldiers, attack her!!!"

And in a rush, the remaining soldiers, almost 200, began to encircle the lone Sailor. She tried to use her Dark Beam, as well as her Black Hole Enclose, but these soldiers just deflected her attacks as easily as she had deflected Tuxedo Mask’s rose.

She stood alone, fearful. How can I defeat them? Everyone is counting on me!!!

+++ There is a way.

Queen Serenity! Oh, if only there was! I need to help my friends. I must DESTROY that Zoicite, and those soldiers!

+++ There is a power you possess, a forbidden power, one that may kill you if you even try to use it. If your anger is strong enough, and your love for your friends is true, then you will be able to use it. When the time is right, you will know exactly what to say.

Mother, I hope you are right...

The voice disappeared, and Nemesis was again alone with the soldiers. She could see the Scouts, fading away, struggling to hold their heads up to see Nemesis fight. Onyx was horrified by the sight...

In a stunning display, all of a sudden, a tremendous white light surrounded the remaining Sailor, halting the soldiers and Zoicite, who thought, "What is this trickery..."

Seconds passed, then minutes, everyone awaiting the results of this phenomenon, when the column of light faded away, leaving only a beautiful girl, wearing a pure white rode, with a stick that possessed an onyx stone inside (a variation of Sailor Nemesis’).

Zoicite was first to speak. "Who are you!?" she snapped harshly.

"I am Princess Onyx of the Moon Kingdom. I have been awaken by my mother, Queen Serenity, to aid in the Sailor Scouts’ fight. And I will."

Sailor Moon, lying on the ground, weak, whispered with all her might, "Is...is she the Moon Princess we have been searching for?" Although this seemed promising, Serena had doubt about this, and felt that she wasn’t the one...

"So you think you can stop me? Hah!" Zoicite said, gaining power. "Well, take THAT!" and the soldiers began to attack, all at once.

Princess Onyx held them off, effectively at first, using the onyx stick that she now possessed. While the soldiers along with the Scouts could not discover how she was protecting herself, Zoicite saw the onyx stick and realized that it was the source.

"Soldiers, aim for the onyx!" she spoke in a rage. In an instant, one of the soldiers gathered some energy, pinpointed the onyx, and shot it with a laser beam that appeared from the tip of his finger. The onyx was broken, destroyed, and Onyx’s protection was no more.

Princess Onyx knew that the soldiers were closing in, and she remembered her mother’s words, You will know when the time is right... the time was now.

"You will NOT destroy us!!!!" and in a rage, a ring of dark fire surrounded the princess, causing her body to glow a haunting black. "Sailor Scouts! Tuxedo Mask! You must hide! Go a safe distance away, NOW! I will be fine!"

Sailor Moon protested, in shock, "No, we must help you!"

But Onyx refused. "The only way you can help me is by lending me your power! Now, GO!"

"Fine, we’ll go..." Moon cried out.

"Always remember me..."Onyx cried, then turned to confront the beasts of the Negaverse.

Determined now, she looked towards Zoicite. "You’re shocked by my black fire, aren’t you? Well, then, prepare for THIS!!!"

All of a sudden, black light which had emanated from her body now was flung to the air, covering the sky that hung over the general and the soldiers and the princess.

I don’t care about myself. I just need to help my friends...and DESTROY the Negaverse! And in a rage, she shouted in a deafening blow --

"NEMESIS...BLACK....HOLE...DESTRUCTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

And with that, a tremendous black hole formed over the spot, pulling in her adversaries. The soldiers, weak in spirit, were all dragged in and immediately killed by its tremendous gravity pressures.

Zoicite was next. As she went up, she screamed with all her might, "HOW COULD YOU!!! It’s not POSSIBLE...." and her evil heart and body were also destroyed by those G-forces.

However, the black hole did not close, not yet. It started to pull up trees, plants, even cars parked on the street. Onyx, scared but determined, knew what she needed to do...She had to stop it from the inside.

She shouted to the Scouts, "You will succeed in your quest! Always remember that even the cruelest of hearts can truly be good. Keep me in your hearts!..."

The Princess Onyx could be seen being pulled up into the black hole of her own creation, body frail and weakened. Soon, she disappeared into the darkness, and the hole suddenly closed with a crash. That was the last the Scouts ever saw of her...

They all began to cry, remembering their departed friend. Sailor Moon wept, "We will always remember you, Onyx. You will always be with us."

Meanwhile, inside the black hole, Onyx was alone, struggling to survive. Finally, the forces gave way, and her body lay dead, lifeless and cold. Her spirit arose from her body, shivering and ultimately alone...

when suddenly, the black hole brought her to a familiar place. Wrecked buildings, a ruined palace...she could feel her memories returning to her, memories of a happier time. She then felt a presence, and turned around to see what it was...

and it was the woman, in the pure white robe, with the moon insignia...

Queen Serenity!

+++ Yes, child, you are home at last. Your spirit has been freed, and you can now rest in peace, with me. She took Onyx to a beautiful lake, a reminder of the beauty that was once the Moon Kingdom. Look at your reflection in the lake.

She did, and gasped at the sight. My forehead! It...it has a moon insignia, similar to yours! But its different somehow.

+++ Yes. You are truly a Moon Princess now. The variation is a result of your willingness to fight; the N is for nemesis. The Scouts have now found one princess, and are now looking for the other, Princess Serena.

Mother, who is Princess Serena?

+++ It is time to tell you now...she is the girl you met on Earth, Sailor Moon. Serena.

Will she ever discover this truth?

Mother, I am so thankful to finally be with you.

+++ And I am as well.

After all of this torment, the suffering faced by Onyx, she had finally found her true home, her true destiny. One of the children of the moon had found her way home.

The Princess had returned!...
